Dean Bowen - Administrator
Mr. Bowen has been involved in education for over twelve
years. Previous to teaching, he worked as a juvenile counselor
for the East Tennessee County Court System. He holds an
Associate Degree in Business from Oakland Community College,
a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Oakland University,
and a Master Degree in Education Administration from Grand
Canyon University. Dean’s great satisfaction is to see a
child realize and believe that he or she has the ability
and gifting to succeed.

| Mrs. Rohde has been teaching for 3 years
and she currently teaches the first and second grades. She
completed her Elementary Education Degree from Cornerstone
University. She enjoys reading, doting on her dog, working
with youth alongside her husband, and of course, shopping.

| Mrs. Gardner has been teaching for 21 years
and she currently teaches the third and fourth grades. She
completed her Elementary Education Degree from Mid-America
Nazarene University. She enjoys cake decorating, reading,
walking, and women’s ministries (Apples of Gold). |
| Mrs. Freeman has been teaching for over
20 years and she currently teaches the fifth and sixth grades.
She completed her Teaching and Art Education Degree from
Calvin College. She enjoys scrap booking, sewing, drawing,
and, of course, riding her Harley.

Mrs. Richardson is the Drama Teacher.
Mrs. Richardson carries an Associate Degree from Mott
Community College, and she served as the drama director
of OAG for five years. She enjoys photography and running.

Mrs. Vito is the school's Art Teacher.
Mrs. Vito is a talented Art teacher who instructs in
various art media allowing students to express their artistic
abilities. She enjoys scrap booking, reading, and photography.

Ms. Florence is the Sign Language
teacher. Ms. Florence has been teaching since 1976.
She attended Western Michigan University and graduated with
a Social Work degree in 1984. Ms. Florence then went on
to graduate school and received a dual Masters one in Speech
Pathology/Audiology and another in Blind Rehabilitation
Teaching, graduating with honors suma cum laude in 1987.
Ms. Florence has taught computer lab and language arts in
a pre-k to 1st grade Montessori school. Ms. Florence has
been teaching sign language and interpreter training courses
at Mott Community College since 1990. Ms. Florence specializes
in teaching deafblind and multiple handicapped individuals.
Ms. Florence has been a speaker at numerous workshops, conventions,
and camps. Ms. Florence is also involved in organizations
such as American Association of the Deafblind, Self Help
In Michigan Equalizing the Deafblind (SHIM=db), American
Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the
Blind and Visually Impaired, and Self Help for the Hard
of Hearing. Ms. Florence is currently serving as President
on the board of SHIM=db. Ms. Florence is a dedicated teacher
and feels that everyone can learn regardless of any handicap
or barrier to learning; everyone has a right to a successful
education.
